REMINISCING...

Wow!

I haven't been writing in (or even reading) this blog for quite a while now.

And it feels exciting, sad, kinda old, kinda strange to be revisiting my thoughts as a young girl in college, with just too much to say and a blog that has served as more than a notebook.

Maybe I will start to write more actively again...

Writing is definitely a passion, a gift, an outlet... And though no longer much interrupted, I am still a girl facing life, a whole lot of adventures sprinkled every step of the way...

On to another chapter...

I started with Blogspot... Just spitting thoughts from the mind of a Girl, Interrupted...

Then moved on to LJ opening "Fairytale Not".

Saw Multiply as a gift from God with the easy photo uploads.

And now finally succumbed to social (and business, mind you!) pressure and got myself a Facebook.

This technology thing is craaaazzzyyy... ;P

DANCING TO THE MUSIC OF TIME...

I've come across a very interesting concept in a book of short stories / essays that is my current bedside staple.

We are all familiar with choreography - a series of organized, successive steps performed by the body, set in timing with music.

But it is quite interesting to see how life is a dance.

All our rituals and banalities, our responses, our smiles, our tears, the speed in which we talk, the activity of daily life... It is all part of the dance.

Everything has a rhythm.

And we all dance to the music of time.

Whether yours is fast or slow, smooth and natural or just a little bit awkward, inside a small room or out in a grand stage: revel in the dance that is your life!

Move freely from one step to the next. Sway to the beat of your own music. Tap your feet. Don't be afraid to take a dip. Own those moments with your "partner" and be one. Bask in the glory in the numbers where you are the lead with a whole group of "back-ups" following your shining star. And continue, even while you are alone when no one is watching.

Everything is rhythm.

Everything is beauty, love, and bliss.

Earth Hour: Join in making a statement about global warming!

On 29 March 2008 the Philippines will join countries around the world as we literally "turn the lights out" for Earth Hour - an event that will fuel awareness on climate change and prove that when the people of the world work together, they can make a difference in the fight against global warming.

Earth Hour will take place throughout the Philippines from 8 to 9 in the evening on Saturday night, 29 March 2008. WWF invites you to participate by shutting off lights for 60 minutes, organizing your own "lights-out" event or by forwarding this to your friends, workmates and family.

--------------------------------

Launched in Australia on the 31st of March 2007, Earth Hour moved 2.2 million people and 2100 businesses in Sydney to turn off their lights for one hour. This massive collective effort reduced the city's energy consumption by 10.2% for one hour. With Sydney icons like the Harbour Bridge and Opera House turning their lights off and unique events such as weddings by candlelight, the world took notice. Inspired by the collective effort of millions of Sydneysiders, many major global cities are joining Earth Hour in 2008, turning a symbolic event into a global movement.

YOUR participation will go a long way in spreading the message that we, as individual droplets working collectively - can create an impetus far more powerful than the mightiest of rivers. For more information, log on to the WWF Earth Hour page at www.earthhour.org

KAPAMILYA VS. KAPUSO / KAPUSO VS. KAPAMILYA

My goodness!

It's the height of network war.

As I turn the TV on, I see a juicy, loaded commercial bearing the the statement of the network. And mind you, it is complete with cue words (highlighted in bold font), cuts and documents to lend an official tone, dramatic statements, the station logo - the works!!! Then when I flick the remote, there goes the response of the other one. They keep getting back at each other that you'd think the court case is right in your own living room (what a literal sala, hehehe... )

Let me just say that I'm well aware that the matter of ratings (and in relation to that media honesty, public trust, and survey credibility) is a truly important issue. It's certainly worth discussing and resolving. And so ABS-CBN and GMA's stance of defending their integrity is perfectly understandable.

But it's getting too much.

I think I'm not alone in feeling that the methods the competitors are employing to get through this brouhaha are unimpressive. If for anything, they make me want to turn the television off. Now how's that for their precious ratings?

A Nice Discovery...

As a kid is to a toy store, so am I in a bookstore.

And so stepping inside "Fully Booked" at Bonifacio High Street felt like being in a giant, wonderful playground!!!

I really can't believe that last Thursday was the first time I bothered to take a look at the place. Boy, was I missing out on a lot!

The "Fully Booked" flagship store is a five-storey reading mecca. As if a parallelism to the genre's place in media, anime, manga and comics are underground. The ground level features popular fiction, general non-fiction, and magazines both foreign and local. Business, economics, history, philosophy, leisure, music, culinary arts and other special interest titles are housed in the third to the fifth floors.

In keeping with bookstores' sense of being comfortable and familiar, there is a Starbucks inside. The place spells "good hang out" -- whether for some private reading time or an intimate conversation with a friend over coffee (or in my case, tea).

Going with the trend of literature and music coming together conveniently, "Fully Booked" likewise has a record bar with small booths to allow buyers a quick listen to featured albums.

And there's an area perfectly suited for book launches and small discussions.

In my opinion being an ardent fan of hobby stores, Music One within Powerbooks still has a more diverse collection of CDs and DVDs, National Bookstore of course reigns where textbooks and school supplies are concerned, and readers still have a better chance at finding good bargains in quaint book shops... but "Fully Booked" at BHS definitely has strong appeal for the modern reading public with diverse interests.

Do check it out. If you're into reading, you won't be disappointed. There's something in "Fully Booked" for you.
